Stop Shopping Hang Tags

Stop Shopping Paintings

Inspired by the documentary film "What Would Jesus Buy?" by Morgan Spurlock, Reverend Billy, Dr. April Benson, and Adbusters Magazine "Buy Nothing Day." Each time I sold one of these paintings, I shopdropped an additional copy at a megastore. In addition to my signature and date on the back, every painting was numbered and registered owners are listed at the bottom of this page. I also made Stop Shopping Hang Tags.

Read more about this art project, "At Walmart and Target, his signs ask shoppers to pause before purchase" in the Omaha World Herald.

Watch the documentary "What Would Jesus Buy?" featuring Reverend Billy and the Stop Shopping Choir.

Listen to Dr. April Benson explain her reminder cards that inspired this art project at 22:41 in the film.
