About the Artist

A native of Tampa, Florida, Scott Blake is an award-winning computer art and printmaking student at the Savannah College of Art and Design. His innovative bar code art creatively explores the process of making art with the universal icon of information and technology. He has exhibited in Savannah and in galleries in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

About the Work

"My portrait uses an international bar code language, EAN 13, to translate numbers from Jane Fonda’s collection of exercise videos into a digital mosaic with a subtle gradation from light to dark. This process was then applied to a recent photograph to create a bar code portrait of Fonda symbolizing the commercialization of an individual which can occur in today’s marketplace."
