| Digital art can be copied and distributed on the Internet without changing the original. Infinite reproductions can be printed on inkjet and laser machines. These electronic images can also be examined further on a computer screen. Viewing the pieces up close in Photoshop is an authentic new way to experience this art. These Bar Code Portraits were specifically designed to be downloaded. PC and MAC compatible image compression was used to make small files that will open on every computer. I even signed and dated them with "DL" mark for "download" series.

| I want to share my art with as many people as possible and move on to create more. Digital technology has raised the bar on content and we now consume endless original copies. I simply want to give my art away while I have the chance, instead of milking it for every penny. I do not have the resources to print out full size archival editions. I do however have adequate server space to store an extra 600 megabytes for my super-sized website. Who knows maybe I just created a monster? I do worry that I may be cheating myself, but the pressure of holding on to a valuable thing never appealed to me. I decided to take that imaginary value and experiment with giving it away. Downloading imagery is a radical new way to experience art. My Bar Code Portraits are about consuming in the digital age and without having the downloading option my work felt incomplete. I am motivated by making great work and sharing it with everyone in hopes for something better. What that is I'm not exactly sure but I strive to achieve it with my art and nothing else.
