| For this portrait I collected 39 UPC numbers from Barnes and Noble.com and found the face using Google image search. Some of the movie titles where available in DVD and VHS format, which gave me some extra barcodes to work with. I was inspired by a Gerhard Richter exhibit I saw at the SFMOMA to add a wiggle in the mosaic. I offset the barcode tiles to produce the hypnotic effect. The visual pattern accents Monroe's curly hair and round checks, is also used to reference her body shape. |
